You Have Flowers

The other night I stayed a couple hours late at the office and when I arrived home, there was a box from Pro Flowers on the porch.

Imagine that box on this porch unexpecdtly.

My neighbor across the street was out, so I yelled down to her that someone had sent me flowers. When I looked at the box, it was my house address, but not my name on the label. I asked her what I should do and she said open them!

Apparently, I have been watching the news too much because my first reaction was this was a suspicious package and I needed to call the police. Because you know someone could have put a bomb in a box labeled Pro Flowers. Then I thought it could be a package with a deadly virus (blaming this on the media and Ebola coverage). Once I came to my senses, (this only took a few minutes), I decided to take the box instead and to call the company so I could send them back.

The woman at Pro Flowers was very nice and when I explained the situation I think she was shocked I called (really, are people not honest and nice anymore?). I told her I didn't open the package and asked her how to return them. As she chuckled, she told me to open the box and enjoy the flowers! I had to provide a tracking number on the package she told me there was a personal note and asked that I destroy it. I got the impression I was to destroy the message without reading it. Ha! No way was that happening!

The flowers were a thank you to someone who had watched a child while both parents were working. the bouquet was a pretty combination of yellow flowers, perfect for a thank you.

I posted some of the on Facebook which ignited questions of a secret admirer and who is he. Let me clarify, there is no "he" or "significant other". That would first require a date and with the hours I have been working, the only thing I'm dating is my bed or sofa!

However, now that I have had some time to think about this, if you are sending someone who has watched your child flowers while you are unavailable, wouldn't you know their address? Just saying...

Chestober and Leaftober

Not going to lie, I wish that October would be about pumpkin patches and baking all kinds of pumpkin goodies, but unfortunately, my Octobers always result in TONS of yard work. I thought I would share some photos!

And then this weekend happened where I was busy working all weekend. Yeah it was a blast! However, the yard ended up like this...

So in case you are wondering, the yard looks even worse tonight. You can't even see the grass. Yep, that means my weekend will be spent outside with my favorite leaf blower and rake! I won't even discuss the front yard. If I'm looking for something positive, I'll be so busy there won't be time to spend any money this weekend! Ha!

Well played Aunt Terry!

So what's that saying, a picture is worth a 1,000 words... Well, look at the birthday card from Aunt Terry and Uncle Tim!

I was speechless when I opened it and then just started laughing!! It is hanging on my refrigerator and I smile every time I see it.

Thank you! :-)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Coming home for fair always has an added benefit, my birthday! I jokingly tell people I have to go home to collect my "loot". Just kidding! I do get some nice presents usually and this year was no different. The only thing different this year was my small helper who opened my presents. Wonder if I get to do this with hers? My guess, she will say, "no"!

I loved all my gifts, but this year, I bought a big one for myself. Ta Da! I got myself a new DSLR camera!

So hopefully this means I will provide much nicer photos in the blog!

DIY Picture Frame

When browsing Pinterest last year, I kept seeing the empty picture frames with wires where photos are held up with small clothespins. I saw some in Pier One as well. They came with price tags of $30.

Last year, I had bought an empty frame at Michael's on a 50% off sale. I had left it empty and had the frame sitting on the mantle. Since I had some wire in the basement and I decided to hot glue it to the back. I had to buy the small clothespins, but then the next part was figuring out which photos to use.

I ended up rearranging a few things on the mantle, but this should be fun to change out pictures over time.

Wish I could say I saved money on the project, but I think I broke even. At least I can say I made it!

Pittsburgh Zoo

So back in June, Susan, Mike, Blondie, and Izzybella came for a visit. It was their turn to do the driving. However, if I look at the calendar, it was also their last time probably until January due to a thing called "soccer season". Somehow, I think I might be getting the short straw!! Good thing I find 3 and half hours in a car relaxing. Gotta love a good jam out session!! :-)

This visit to Pittshburgh included a visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. Seriously, I live 15 mins away and have never been there. Go figure!

The day was hot, like seriously hot. I can't remember the last time I sweated that much by walking. It was a great day overall and the pictures should speak for themselves. The only thing this visit proved is that Aunt Angie needs to brush up on her animals. That is all I am saying!! :-)

I think she is trying to yell at the tigers!

Izzybella was asleep by this point, but Susan, Mike, and I were quite impressed with him

My niece is a brat!

Yep, definite brat! Tears stopped once Mommy started holding her.

Naptime in the Daddy lounger!

Mommy, Izzybella, and fishes

Okay, she loved the map and we left her play with it.

However, when a small child gets quiet, you should probably check on them..

Hiding her antics...

Yep, she was eating the map. Her mommy had to go fishing for paper in her mouth!!

Family photo with an ostrich

Izzybella and her favorite family member, Aunt Angie

Excuse me Mr. Elephant, but you are photo bombing my picture.

Aunt Angie:  Izzybella, look! Tucans!!!  Mike: Izzie, don't listen to your Aunt. Those are flamingos!
Hey, where's the matching shorts?

Yep, still a petite midget!!

Now we have the Aunt Angie and Izzybella Ape Dance!!

Anyone want to come swimming?
